GoPro NEXT Media Platform
User Onboarding Prototype
In collaboration with with Bad Assembly and BCGDV, I lead development of a functional iPad prototype for GoPro’s envisioned media hub featuring content created exclusively using its hardware.
GoPro hired Boston Consulting Group Digital Ventures (BCGDV) to consult on an envisioned media platform that would feature footage captured on its cameras. BCGDV enlisted Bad Assembly to build a functional prototype of the envisioned application. While highly regarded in the web development space, Bad Assembly sought iOS expertise and reached out for a partnership. I was brought on to help win the business, lead the effort and provide iOS development training in the process.
Over a three-month engagement I developed proofs of concept, gave client demos, lead development of the final prototype, handled app distribution and mentored through code reviews and supplementary instruction. The iPad prototype was built in Swift 2.1.
While GoPro ultimately took a different path, both clients considered the collaboration a great success. What attracted me was the opportunity to teach and architect simultaneously, and the chance to collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to realize a forward-thinking product vision.
